Peru Missions Training Day - WLAChurch

Hola!~ Me llamo Hugo :) Haha, that's a little bit of the Spanish I learned today in Spanish 101. Hopefully in the coming weeks I will be able to add onto that and possibly have a half decent conversation instead of a brief broken Spanish introduction and a shameful walk in the other direction... LMAO

This is actually my first time blogging so please hang in there with me.

So I woke up at about 6:35am and was sitting impatiently inside John's red Honda Civic by 7:30am. I was half asleep, cold, slightly confused and not much better than a zombie in a vegetative state. o__o; LOL. Joey was already in the back and in a few minutes we were joined by the fourth member of our travel group, Jessie! The rest of the team, comprising of the A's (Ant, Adrienne, Amanda) along with Elaine were going to West London Alliance Church in their own seperate car.

After 2hrs of small talk, staticy radio stations, awkward silences, rolling hills, neatly done fields, a brief talk on the latest trucker trends and a brief stop at McDonalds we were finally at WLAC! This church was not as big as ours, but the youth worship area blew my mind and was complimented on by most members of our team. Some of the items they had included black leather sofa's, large screen tv's, a pool table, a foosball table and an Apple Desktop that Ant kept on eyeing. No doubt he wanted to leave with that.. along with their beautiful AV set up! kekeke. LOL. No worries though, we've all been taking visual notes on what we thought would be neat additions to Xara in the future. Just maybe. ;D

There were a total 8 youth groups that have come from our CMA district. The rest of the training day was spent on games to build up some relationships with the other teams, worship, prayer, a brief overview of the guidelines we had to follow, and finally a *gasp* a Skype convo with Rich Brown (one of the missionaries in charge of IncaLink!) ... who was in Canada atm ... LOL. So that's a relatively brief summary of what I did today. Come talk to me or anyone from the team if you want to know in detail what we did today! XD

Please continue to pray for us as we continue to work together in preparing ourselves physically and spiritually for the trip in the coming months! Buenas Noches!~

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog!

This is the blog of the Mission Peru Team, and will be documenting all of the preparation prior to the mission trip (including fundraising, trainings, etc) as well as all that happens on the actual trip! :)

Background/Information
Mission Peru 2010 takes place on June 30th-July 10th. Their vision statement is: "Partnering globally with Alliance churches to give high school students a missional experience" -- to experience short term for the long term. Mission Peru is partnered with CCD Youth, Rich and Lisa Brown (missionaries) through Inca Link (www.incalink.net), and the network of Peruvian Alliance Churches in Trujillo, Peru.
While down in Peru, students are encouraged to be "unplugged", meaning no technology allowed, excepting blogging about their experiences. They will be staying at a group guest house that is run by American missionaries. Ministry opportunities in Peru include the Garbage Dump Ministry, Children Ministries at an orphanage, the building of homes, and more.
