nine days!

Hey everyone!

WOW, the Peru trip is only NINE days away. =o Can you believe it?
Nine days to pack... to get ready... and we're currently in the middle of exams right now too!
Nine days until we hit the city of Trujillo! :D

Last Friday, our team had a meeting, in which we discussed airport stuff, etc. (Terminal 3, 12:00PM, LAN airlines, luggage...) We're flying to New York, spending 6 hours in the airport, flying to Lima, Peru, and then taking a 10 hour bus ride up to Trujillo. It sounds tiring already! But at the same time, very cool. ;)

What are we going to be doing during all that time? Playing cards? LOL. Nah, PJohn gave us each a book! After all, part of the preparation is reading Godly books. The books were ...

- Choose Love, Not Power
- The End of Religion
- The Irresistible Revolution
- Crazy Love
- Forgotten God
- Adventures in Missing the Point
- The Twenty Piece Shuffle

These books are for us to read to learn more, and "gain insight" so we can do more in Peru, etc. We're supposed to read them, journal about them, reflect on them, and then switch halfway through the trip. :)

Also, during the meeting, we discussed our fundraising for the trip!! It's all thanks to everyone that WE HAVE REACHED OUR GOAL OF $4200! ... and more, in fact! God is good. :D Awesome. haha, with this, our team is finally ready to go to PERU! As well, with the surplus money, we plan to use it for gifts to the Peruvians. What sort of gifts, we're not sure yet. School supplies, soccer balls, care packages... there are lots of possibilities! If you have any ideas, feel free to comment below. :)

That's all for now, there's lots to do... start packing, brush up on the few Spanish words we know... keep following our blog, we'll be sure to update daily in Peru! Keep praying for us too! Thank you everyone for your love and support!

Working Out the Muscles God Gave Us

Last week Hugo and I set out on the epic journey to use all of our muscles to help the Duncans move out! On this journey we encountered boxes upon boxes of books and knick knacks as well as mattresses, bikes, bed frames, and a bunch of clothing. We brought all of this from the 8th and 9th floor down to the ground floor where the U-Haul™ was parked.

So here is Hugo next to the U-Haul™ after we had finished unloading everything:

And here is the result of our efforts:

After we made our first trip to the new house, we went back to finish packing and moving everything into the U-Haul™. Hugo was clearly stronger than I was because I had to rely on him to hold up all the boxes:

With our final load done and all loaded into the elevator, we took a final picture of all of the boxes:

With all that was said and done, both Hugo and I had a great time helping the Duncans move out. We definately look forward to our next set of chores! Thank you for supporting us :D

Weekend of Painting and Sanding

The Duncans recently moved into a new house and needed painting to be done at their house so they hired us as painters.

This was Jeff's first time painting. He had the task of taping up the corners and painting near the corners. I got to paint the walls using the rollers. Poor Jeff. He saw me making huge progress because the roller covers large surface area while he had the small handheld paintbrush and he had to "paint within the lines".

Here's the after picture with Jen holding our snacks. She also bought us Cherry Blasters.

Sunday night, Joey, P. John, and myself headed over to Ginger and Dan's place. A true fixer upper.

We were greeted by a bird in the house and it was pretty scary because it kept on darting between two windows and the skylight. As P. John said, "I don't do birds". Dan chased it into the closet and caught it in his hands and freed it oustide. Yay!

This is not a large Jackson Pollock painting. This is a wall in which Dan asked me to scrape off the brown paint. Needless to say, it was taking too long so I was moved to wall-sanding work.

Joey was made for sanding. She was sanding down bumps that I had given up on as impossible to reach. The masks were suffocating though. Good news, Ginger and Dan are hiring us again!
